Acknowledgements

No feat ever achieved in isolation and for every work, there is always a number of individuals who contributed. Firstly, I would like to thank the people of Fitzroy who gave me the opportunity for interviews. This project is basically about actual persons and would be little more than a 'remediation' project without the contributions of individuals who are willing to engage with and talk about where they actually live. Secondly I would like to thank my colleagues and peers from RMIT University in Melbourne, especially Adrian Miles, Sam DeSilva, Andrew Garton, Justina Curtis, and David Atkinson. I would likewise like to thank Ed Ayres and William Thomas from the Virginia Centre for Digital History (VCDH) at the University of Virginia for both their contributions to on-line history makings, and for giving me the opportunity to study at the centre in late 2000. Also, one cannot talk about digital history making within this region without acknowledging Paul Turnbull, a gentleman of the old school. And finally my friends in Fitzroy, Karen, and especially Julian, another gentleman of the old school still hanging around.
