This is Ulverstone in Tasmania's northwest at rush hour. Ulverstone's main industry is potatoes, in fact the local food processing plant (where my mother has worked for the past thirty years) supplies the entire east-coast of Australia with those small stringy 'French fries' used in fast-food restaurants. Below is the main beach at Ulverstone, although most of the year it is too cold to swim in. (2000) |
